Horniman Museum Trip

Article Image

Our trip to the Horniman Museum will be this Friday.  We will be leaving school at 9:20am and return at around 2:30pm.

All children will need a packed lunch in a bag that is easy to carry.  No chocolate or fizzy drinks please.

Thank you to all the parents and careers who are coming along to help.

This Week (21st May - 25th May)

Topic Work
For the final two weeks of the term, we will be concentrating on art.  We will be asking the big question 'What is art?" and trying to explain what we like and why.  We will be looking at Henri Matisse and Jackson Pollock and trying to create our own similar works.  We will also be looking at some pictures and exporing the stories we can see in them.

Phoneme of the week
We continue our Phoneme of the Week with the sound a, the first phoneme on the vowel side of the THRASS chart.  It will be 'a' as in 'ant'.  Please encourage your child to bring in items containing this week's phoneme.

Maths
This week we will be recapping different areas of maths such as tricky teens and subtraction.

Information

School start time
Please remember, school starts at 8:45. The children start handwriting as soon as they come in and have put away their coats and book bags so it is disruptive if other children come in late. We really appreciate your efforts in getting your children to school on time.

Lining up
Please can your children be in line, outside the classroom, when the bell rings at 8:45. Thank you.

Clothes
It is always really helpful if the children's clothes are clearly labelled.  It will prevent items going missing.  This is especially important as the weather gets colder and the children start bringing in hats, scarves and gloves.

Shoes
If your child cannot tie laces, please can they wear slip-on shoes or shoes with Velcro.  It is dangerous for children when they are running around with untied laces.

Reception Fund
The fund contribution is £7 for this half term. Please remember that your £1 each week is invaluable to us, and is greatly appreciated not only for everyday resources (such as cooking ingredients) but also is put towards more significant events such as trips.

Covered area
Please remember that the area underneath the shelter at the rear of the Reception classrooms is out of bounds before and after school.

PE
Each Monday, the children take part in a PE lesson.  It is very important that the children wear appropriate shoes that are suitable for outside running.

Borrowed Clothes
If your child comes home wearing clothes borrowed from school, please could you wash and return them as soon as possible.
